Many of most deeply-rooted festivals in Catalonia are of a religious nature. One of the most significant ones in our region is the festival of the Virgin of El Carme, the patron saint and protector of sailors, which is particulary celebrated in Palamós, Sant Feliu de Guíxols and L'Estartit. This festival has an unique character as it is a procession with a route that goes along the main beaches of the corresponding towns.
