The School is an open centre where new initiatives can be generated and where professionals can come together and pool their knowledge. It also brings the world of professional cooking into contact with the general public, the lovers of gastronomy.
Here you can follow courses and workshops during your holidays in the region. There are courses for children (where high-level professionals teach them about working in a kitchen), to courses in basic cookery or Empordanese cuisine or focussing on discovering the techniques of the finest cooks of the district.
In addition to its publicising role, the school performs other functions, such as:
- For professionals, it represents a space where they can meet and discuss their work and also exchange ideas with chefs from other parts of the world.
- For companies, it offers courses for catering professionals and workers to learn or perfect the techniques of cooking and serving, and so to improve the quality of their establishments.
- It facilitates direct contact between the producers and preparers of local foodstuffs, in order to revitalise our cookery and offer the region’s own products.
- It carries out tasks of research and recovery of traditional dishes.
The space occupied by the Empordŕ Gastronomy School consists of a fully-equipped professional kitchen laid out in such a way that participants can sit and watch the professional at work. The School is currently enlarging its space in response to the good reception generated by its initiatives. Every season the programme of courses, tastings and meetings is renewed, so that if you have already taken part in one course, next season you will very probably find another initiative of your interest.
