Baix Empordą district has an extensive network of rural paths far from the main roads and suitable for travel by bicycle. Taking advantage of these paths and local roads, the District Council has created a cycletouring network whose perfect signposting means that the districts landscapes can be admired peacefully and each of the heritage assets they lead to known. Most of the network runs across the plain, though there are links by path and road to the coastal zones of the Aro Valley and the Palafrugell corridor. Notable in the south of the district is the rehabilitation as a cycle path of the old railway line which used to run between Sant Feliu de Guķxols and Girona.
The cycletouring network (250 km) allows each cyclist to draw up his/her own route by forming connections between the various duly signposted paths and roads. You will find on this page basic information to help you map out your route, although we would also recommend that you get hold of some of the specific publications about cycletouring published by the Consell Comarcal del Baix Empordą (Baix Empordą District Council) or make use of the services offered by the districts various leisure companies.
